When should I take the ACT?
Most 4-year colleges and universities require students to take the ACT no later than December before the year in which they plan to begin classes. For students applying for admission to programs beginning in the fall of 2017, this means that they should take the ACT no later than December of 2016.
Some programs, including the University of Colorado, encourage students to take the ACT earlier than December to ensure that test scores are received on time with the rest of the college application. Students are strongly encouraged to review admissions requirements for specific schools they are interested in attending before selecting their ACT test date.
