Reading Assessments

DTP’s reading assessment service provides a comprehensive evaluation of foundational and grade-level reading skills through the administration and analysis of several diagnostic skills-based assessments. Completing a reading assessment is the standard first step for new clients that will work with the DTP reading team for reading intervention. However, families may elect to do the reading assessment as a stand alone service without additional tutoring. The cost for the assessment is $230.

What is Dyslexia?

Dyslexia is a condition that affects approximately 20 percent of the population. Dyslexic children and adults struggle with reading, spelling, and learning new languages. These difficulties result from challenges dyslexic individuals face in matching letters with the sounds and combinations those letters make. This often times leads to slower reading speed and lower performance in a school environment. For most people, dyslexia can be effectively managed with the right supports and many dyslexic children go on to be highly successful adults. While early interventions are ideal, older students and adults can still learn techniques to improve their reading fluency.
